Premier Apple Pie

I love pies. A flaky crust combined with a tart and fruity filling = heaven on a fork.

However, the idea of making a pie by myself – with a hand-made crust – terrifies me.

Until now.

I finally overcame my fear of making my own pie. My mother-in-law gave me a few ideas about ‘cutting the dough’ to make it flaky; I decided to use Father’s Day as an excuse to take the plunge – I’ve always wanted to make my father-in-law an apple pie – his favorite dessert (I think?).

It was a little stressful. I told everyone they weren’t allowed to talk to me until it was in the oven. But I did it! And it was super delicious!

I found this simple Apple Pie recipe through Pinterest for the crust and filling idea. Then I decided to caramelize the apples and add in some apple pie spice. So here’s my variation of Cooking on Clover Lane’s Apple Pie recipe. Hers is much simpler so stick with her if mine looks/sounds too complicated.
