Crowd Closing In {Five Minute Friday}

Five Minute Friday / Friday, March 14th, 2014

Wewie it’s been a busy day as I prepare for a trip this week but I can’t go without giving at least five minutes to writing. So here’s my Five Minute Friday post with the word prompt of the day: Crowd.

Go:

Crowd.

Sweaty

Tingly

Heart racing

beat, Beat, BEAT, BEAT!

So many people

everywhere

closing in on me

sucking all my breath out of me

I am suddenly just another drop

in the vast ocean

of others.

Who am I now?

No one.

Anyone?

Soon the doors will open.

I’ll cling my baby close to my heart, kiss his sweet cheeks, stroke his soft hair

grasp my luggage tight

hold on for dear life

as the crowd of unfamiliar faces

loud voices

different

language,

sounds,

noices,

visuals,

smells waft up and engulf me

fill me and try to overtake me.

BREATHE!  Breathe, breathe….

In….

Out….

There.

I can do this.

No.

We can do this.

Stop.

  1. I can feel your emotion in this post and I can also tell what is on your mind. Something tells me you repeatedly made your creative writing teacher happy in school. 🙂 Hope you have a wonderful and safe trip.

    1. Aww thanks Danielle for such an encouraging comment! It’s funny I actually didn’t take creative writing but always wished I had but my English teacher kept trying to get me to, I guess I should have listened.
